Wahoo Power Drive

The race that was scheduled for last week was canceled due to the weather. Due to that we had more time to make finishing touches to the cars for the races in Columbus on April 1st.

This week we are working non stop to put finishing touches on the cars for our competition this Saturday in Lincoln. Everyone is calm for the race.

Today we are sitting here like a road crew, car s44 is sanding down the front bumper while car s66 is figuring out their method to   attach their lexon. While a few select people are working the rest of us our supervising, we are preparing ourselves to be the bosses and managers of the world.

Car s44 is putting the lexan over the back wheel while car s66 is attaching tin to the bottom of the car as a floor. We are hoping to get our batteries in water while we charge them, we most definitely need a

Yesterday was awesome, we got to take both cars out on the track! At first car S66 was flying and putting good distance between itself and car S44 but soon enough Car S44 caught and passed S66. It may have been because car S66's batteries died rapidly. We clocked our at going 30 MPH which is extremely fast and probably why our batteries didn't last very long. Both S66 and S44 did well and both have plenty of work that still needs to be done to have a good season.

This week we are working on all of the small details.

, Today Car S66 got taken out for its first test drive, YAY!

Today teams S44 is looking into making a fiber glass body. We are researching and discussing how to make it and whether or not it is a good decision.  Team S66 is is working on the brakes and gas petal construction. Also they are making a new front end.

Yesterday was our first day back from break! It was nice to be back in the shop. We even got a few new crew members. First thing first, we went through and assessed what needed to be done in order to complete our cars. Today we looked at the list we created yesterday and got right to work. My team is measuring the lengths of cables in order to run a safety fuse (circuit breaker) that is within the drivers reach. We had to look at the best way to run our cables in order to still be able to get our batteries out and allow our car to function smoothly. The other team is working on aligning their tires and making the turn ratios on both tires equal. Though these jobs seem simple they require planning and and overall knowledge of the car.

Car S44 is having a debate on whether they should use hand brakes or a foot brake...
